The "safe mode" solution didn't work for me. Instead, I temporarily disabled my anti-virus software, then went to Control Panel and was able to uninstall Internet Updater.

To remove it, start your computer in "Safe mode". Tap on F8 as your computer boots.
Go to Control Panel and remove "Internet Updater". Close all programs that might pop up and shut down your computer.
Have a nice day!

I think I got this while streaming football. I couldn't uninstall it in the Control Panel because my antivirus kept blocking the site. It would try to open when I clicked to uninstall program. It was driving me insane and I spent hours trying to figure it out. The thing that finally worked for me on both my laptop and my desktop was downloading a free version of an anti malware program and running it while my computer was in safe mode. If you google just the word malware the one I downloaded was the first one and it worked. I was actually surprised because it found 70 different things on my laptop and my antivirus always said my laptop was fine. Once you download and install this program, just restart your computer and press F8 as soon as it is starting. If you can't get it to start in safe mode that way you can always just shut down the computer by pressing the on/off button and when it restarts and asks you to restart normally or safe mode choose safe mode. I don't recommend to do this all the time cause it's not great for your PC but I had to do it this way for both my laptop and the desktop and everything was OK. Once in safe mode, open the program that you installed and run the scan. Follow the prompts and it should be fixed in no time! Hope this helps Smile
